Most bedrooms have at least one space a standard wardrobe simply won’t fit: a chimney breast alcove, a run beside a bay window, or an odd-shaped corner left over from a loft conversion. We build storage to fit these spaces exactly, rather than leaving them empty or filling them with freestanding furniture that never quite sits flush.
Alcove wardrobes either side of a chimney breast are one of the most requested versions of this: matching shelving or cupboards built into both recesses, often with open shelving in the centre above the fireplace. We match the depth and height to the alcove itself, so the finished unit looks like it was built with the room rather than added afterwards.
The same approach works for shallow spaces, sloped stairwells, and rooms with structural columns or boxed-in pipework. If a space is too awkward for standard furniture, it’s usually a good candidate for a fitted piece designed specifically around it.
